Common UX issues

The four UX problems Other Land finds most often

People sign up, look at the first screen, and never come back.

The first ten minutes

Self-guided onboarding often leaves the value unclear, so activation drops. We make the first steps show what the product does for the user.

Activation

The first screen is empty, so the product looks like it does nothing.

Empty states that sell

A screen with no data shows no value. A checklist of first actions, or a sample the user can edit, moves activation further than a redesign does.

Empty states

The features are there, but users cannot find their way to them.

Hierarchy and navigation

Complex functionality hides behind unclear navigation. We set the hierarchy, the accents and the entry points, so each page reads at a glance.

Navigation

The AI feature is there, but users do not get what it does.

AI features made clear

AI modules are often bolted on and hard to read. We make clear what the feature does, what its answer is based on, and how to correct it.

How it works

Express or full UX audit , at the depth you need

  • An intro call first, to agree the one metric that matters most.
  • User interviews and usability testing, when the problem needs them.
  • A stakeholder workshop on the problem and what you already tried.
  • Support calls and user requests, read as evidence of what breaks.
  • Analytics in GA4 or your own tools, for the drop-offs that cost most.
  • Competitor analysis, and the reason each issue fails and what it hits.
  • Draft designs with ready UX solutions, not a list of problems.
  • We agree one goal first, like conversion, consistency or one broken flow.
  • Analytics and support tickets reviewed, where you have them.
  • Heuristic review against your market and how others solved it.
  • Issues ranked by impact and effort, so quick wins come first.
  • References and examples for every fix, so your team can act.

What you get

UX audit deliverables

The audit in Figma, FigJam or Claude artifacts, each issue marked on its screen.

A live walkthrough with the key stakeholders we agree on with you, recorded for the rest.

Draft designs of the improvements, or exact references where a draft is overkill.

A ranked list of improvements by impact and effort, with quick wins first.

A separate list of minor UI fixes, ready to hand to your developers.

A competitor review of your key flows, with what is worth borrowing.

Why us

Why teams choose Other Land for a UX audit

Fixes that move metrics

Every finding comes with a design proposal aimed at a metric, like activation or conversion, not a list of complaints.

High impact, low effort first

Improvements are ranked by impact and effort, so your team starts with the changes that pay back fastest.

Shaped to your scope

Express or full, one flow or the whole product. The audit fits your goal, your deadline and how your team works.

We push back

We take your context seriously, and we still challenge the team where we disagree, with the evidence behind it.

A view across every project

Our design director and product manager work across all studio products, and bring what worked elsewhere to yours.

Evidence, not taste

Every recommendation comes from stakeholder context, user research, market analysis, and your own analytics.

Who it's for

When a UX audit is worth it

Worth running when

  • Your EdTech, fintech, SaaS, e-commerce or marketplace product works but is hard to use.
  • Your numbers dropped and the team disagrees about the reason.
  • Support answers the same question every week and nobody has fixed it upstream.
  • New users sign up and never come back, and you cannot see where they go.
  • You shipped an AI feature and adoption is far below what you expected.
  • You are about to spend a quarter on a redesign and want to know what to redesign.
  • You built the product with AI and it works, but it does not feel like a product yet.

Not worth it when

  • Nothing is live yet. There is no behaviour to look at, and you need discovery and MVP design instead.
  • You want it to look better, not work better. That is a redesign, and going straight there is faster and cheaper.
  • Your team has no room to build anything for the next few months. Findings go stale, so run it closer to the work.
